About the Charachs

Natalie & Manny (z”l) Charach were a powerhouse couple who built a multi-faceted empire, and they never forgot their humble beginnings. Coming from immigrant families and meager childhoods, they were both instilled with the foundation of hard work, kindness and generosity. Manny became Panasonic’s founding and leading U.S. representative, and Natalie kept their office running & orders moving on time. As the company grew, Manny & Natalie formed the Manat Foundation, which has supported countless humanitarian causes around the world. The Charachs were passionate about giving back and believed anyone who has the ability to give, however small, should do so.
Their immensely talented children, Janice and Jeffrey, were both artists and creative enthusiasts.
Janice, a graduate of the College for Creative Studies in 1972, was a member of Detroit’s Cass Corridor movement, which was known for the use of found materials and gritty, intense styles that reflected their urban environment. Her work was featured in the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Scarab Club and more. She was a proud member of the Michigan Watercolor Society and won first prize in their annual exhibition of ’73.
Sadly, Janice lost her battle with cancer at the age of 39. She was devoted to Judaism and passionate about art. Her family founded the Janice Charach Gallery in 1990, and it’s mission reflected Janice’s life by helping emerging artists display their work.
