We will be open from\n9:30 AM until 11:30 for fun and play time! Each week\, we may gather for a\ncircle and story time around 10:30 AM\, but you are welcome to come and go\nanytime during Open Play hours. \nOpen Play is geared toward families with children ages 0-4. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Open Play at the J! Join us in the JFamily Room inside The J every\nMonday morning that schools are typically in session. We will be open from\n9:30 AM until 11:30 for fun and play time! Each week\, we may gather for a\ncircle and story time around 10:30 AM\, but you are welcome to come and go\nanytime during Open Play hours. \nOpen Play is geared toward families with children ages 0-4. Parents\,\ngrandparents\, and other caregivers are welcome! This is a drop-in program\,\nnot a drop-off. \nCost: $10 per family per session. Register for as many Mondays as you\nwould like! Pre-registration is appreciated\, but walk-ins are welcome! \nFood: You may bring your own nut-free snacks\, and additional children’s snacks\nwill be available for purchase in the JFamily Room. Gross explores how participating in the deli revival provides\nan alternative\, under-appreciated way of practicing in American Jewish life.\nIn her book\, Beyond the Synagogue: Jewish Nostalgia as Religious Practice\,\nthe author traces American Jews’ involvement in a broad array of ostensibly\nnonreligious activities. From conducting Jewish genealogical research\,\nvisiting Jewish historic sites\, purchasing books and toys that teach Jewish\nnostalgia to children\, to seeking out traditional Jewish foods\, Gross argues\nthat these practices illuminate how many American Jews are finding and making\nmeaning within American Judaism today.\nRachel B. Gross is Associate Professor and John and Marcia Goldman Chair in\nAmerican Jewish Studies at San Francisco State University.
