DESCRIPTION:What is Sharing Shabbat?\nSharing Shabbat is a 7 month program for families with children ages 0-8. Your\nfamily will participate in monthly shabbat experiences as you build\nrelationships with families and learn how to celebrate shabbat in your home.\nSharing Shabbat welcomes all families including those who are new to town\,\ninterfaith\, multi-faith\, single parent families\, Jews of Color\, Queer\nfamilies\, families with disabilities\, and families looking to make new\nconnections in the community. \nAll families will participate in the following:\nAn Opening Shabbat Dinner and Art Workshop\nA Challah Bake\nA Parents Night Out\nA Closing Havdalah Celebration\n*Four home hosted shabbat meals (can be Friday night dinner or Saturday brunch/lunch): families will be placed in small cohorts that will gather together in each other’s homes to celebrate shabbat. Hosts will be provided with a $75 stipend to help cover the cost of the meal as well as a Sharing Shabbat host kit. If you are uncomfortable hosting in your home but would still like to participate in the program\, we welcome your application and will work together to accommodate your family! \nHow to participate?\nTo apply\, please submit this application by September 3rd. Free to attend. \nSpeakers\nNatalie Balazovich \, artist\, gallerist and Director of the Janice Charach\nGallery.\nDr. Vince Carducci \, cultural critic and Dean Emeritus at College for\nCreative Studies.\nSue Giannotti \, artist and founder of Mosaic Opus Studio\, instructor and\ncollaborator at The Chicago Mosaic School. \nModerator\nRuth Tyszka \, artist\, lawyer\, researcher and writer.\nPlease join us at the Janice Charach Gallery for a panel discussion featuring\ncreative experts of culture and art to discuss the topic entitled\, “From\nAncient Floors to Gallery Walls: What Is Mosaic Art Now?” The panel discussion\nis set within the gallery hosting the Mosaic Arts International 2024\nexhibition\, one of the foremost annual exhibitions of mosaic fine art in the\ncountry. These three art and culture experts will give creative context to the\nexhibit\, and context to mosaic art and tradition within the broader\ncontemporary art world. The Mosaic Arts International exhibition is held\nannually by the Society of American Mosaic Artists.
