SUMMARY:Storied. The Reggae Session with special guest Matisyahu
DESCRIPTION:STORIED is back at The Berman with The Reggae Session. Join us for an\nextraordinary concert experience that delves into the rich tapestry of Jewish\nculture and its connections to reggae. This unique event promises to weave\ntogether music\, storytelling\, and community\, celebrating the profound\ninfluence and contributions of Jewish artists and fans to this iconic music\ngenre. \nThe concert will feature a special guest\, international star Matisyahu.\nFor nearly two decades\, Matisyahu has kept his creative spirit aflame by\nevolving his sound\, melding genres\, and testing the limits of the musical\ntraditions that have inspired him. His latest release\, Hold the Fire\, and its\nleadoff single "Fireproof" takes inspiration from a dream inspired by\nMatisyahu’s Old Testament religion\, which has meant so much to his spiritual\nand creative life since his recording career began in 2004 and his breakout\n"King Without a Crown" blasted into the Billboard charts in 2005. \nThis concert will spotlight different aspects of Jewish identity as it\nintersects with the genre’s ethos\, exploring themes of community\,\nspirituality\, and resilience. \n“Music has always been a bridge between cultures\, and…music resonates deeply\nthroughout the Jewish experience\,” says Benji Rosenzweig\, STORIED. Co-\nCreator and host of the evening. “We are excited to continue creating a space\nwhere these stories can be heard and celebrated through the universal language\nof music.” \nThis unforgettable evening promises a journey through music and storytelling\nas we honor the bonds between Jewish culture and reggae. In a setting similar\nto MTV _ Unplugged _meets VH1 Storytellers \, the band and Benji will go\nback and forth between storytelling and music. Don’t miss out on this fourth\nsession of STORIED\, a concert series audiences are raving about: \n“This program was great. The music was AMAZING. We were all rocking out and\nthey could not have been more fabulous. I loved all the stories!” – anonymous\nGrunge Session attendee \nFunded with support from Eli Saulson and the Directors’ Discretionary Fund\nof The William Davidson Foundation \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/12531

SUMMARY:Sculpture Now & Re:Vision Exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:"SCULPTURE NOW ” & "RE:VISION"\nExhibitions at Janice Charach Gallery\nJanuary 18 – February 18\, 2025\nOpening Reception: Sunday\, January 18\, 1-4 p.m.\nArtist Talk: Sunday\, February 15\, 1 p.m. \nSCULPTURE NOW will be on the main level of the gallery. This exhibition\npresents a distinguished collection of contemporary sculpture curated by Aaron\nSchey of Habatat Detroit Fine Art. The exhibition highlights artists who\nchallenge the conventions of form\, scale\, and material\, revealing the\nexpressive potential of glass\, metal\, wood\, and mixed media. The artwork\nexplores the intersection between structure and imagination\, highlighting the\ncontinued vitality of sculptural practice in the contemporary art landscape. \nLocated on the second floor of the gallery is RE:VISION\, a movement designed\nto engage the community\, promoting environmental awareness\, resourcefulness\,\nand creative problem-solving. By opening up a dialogue between artists and the\npublic\, this exhibition seeks to inspire new perspectives on sustainability\nand help lead the way toward a more mindful future. At the heart of this\nexchange is the curatorial vision of Amanda Koss\, who brings these voices\ntogether through powerful works. Visitors will encounter innovative pieces\,\nincluding interactive sculpture and compelling artwork crafted from reclaimed\nmaterials such as found objects\, fabric\, and old housing. \nEXHIBIT SPONSORS: Manat Foundation\, Doris Shulman\, Esther Hankin\, Dr. Judy\nBalan Pearl\, Sue & Alan Jay Kaufman Foundation \nPROGRAM SPONSORS: Lesley & Dr. Barry Feldman\, Judy & Dr. John Marx\, Arlene &\nJack Schultz \nFor more on exhibits and events\, visit\n(https://charachgallery.org). \nOPEN HOURS DURING EXHIBITS:\nSunday\, Tuesday\, Wednesday – 10 am – 4 pm\nThursday – 11 am – 7 pm\n*Visit the website or social media for up-to-date information & holiday closures. \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/13662
