They partner with local arts organizations like the\nBirmingham Bloomfield Art Center and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to give\npeople with disabilities the opportunity to be creative artists\, musicians\,\nwriters\, and performers. This exhibition is a showcase of the work\nparticipants have made over the past year. \nThe projects featured in this exhibition showcase each artists’ unique\npersonality and view of the world. Alli works across mediums\nof glass\, installation\, video\, and performance to investigate human desire to\nconnect with the unknowable\, and to reveal the simultaneous lightness and\nheaviness that is created when the imagined or invisible is labored into the\nphysical realm. She completed her BFA degree in Glass at University of Hawaii\nat Manoa\, graduated with a Master’s in fine art from New York State College of\nCeramics at Alfred University\, and currently serves as Associate Professor of\nGlass and Glass Area Head at Bowling Green State University\, in Bowling Green\,\nOH. \nRegistration required. \nSpecial Feature in the Upper Gallery:“Tchotchke” — A tribute to Albert\nYoung\, legendary artist and founder of Michigan Hot Glass. Join us for an exciting\, hands-on\nafternoon where ancient global craft meets modern Jewish tradition. \nIn this creative workshop\, we will explore the beautiful concept of hiddur\nmitzvah —beautifying the commandment—by transforming raw fabric into an\nheirloom-quality\, one-of-a-kind Challah cover for your Shabbat table. \nUsing Shibori \, the exquisite Japanese art of resist-dyeing\, you will\nlearn how to fold\, bind\, twist\, and clamp fabric to unlock breathtaking\ngeometric patterns.
